Chanukuh Dinner at Spur

The Chanukuh dinner at Spur involves spaghetti-squash latkes. Sounds tasty.
On Tuesday, December 7 Spur is hosting a $50 Chanukuh dinner at which chefs Dana Tough and Brian McCracken will put their signature spin on classic Chanukuh eats.
Eats like latkes—one of my all-time favorite foods—but fancy spaghetti squash latkes, dressed in apple, watercress, and rose. Smoked sablefish gets treated with paprika, quail egg, and creme fraiche. There’s a chicory salad and beef shortribs and at the end: sufganiyot. Sufganiwhat? It’s a doughnut impregnated with jelly and eaten on Chanukuh. The Spur sufganiyot involves huckleberry, mascarpone, and honey.
I just called over to Spur and talked to general manager Anne Magoon, who said the dinner will be served family-style and will include “lots of little surprises” and, possibly-maybe, some Manischewitz (kosher wine) punch. You know what else she told me? That this whole thing started when a regular said he’d love to see Tough and McCracken take on the traditional Chanukuh foods. It just goes to show you, my fellow diners, that we are an empowered group indeed.
As of 15 minutes ago Spur had 15 spots left, call 206-728-6706 if you’d like to attend.
