Here’s why a gift card to Steelhead Diner is a good gift right now:

Through December, Steelhead Diner is running a gift card promo that works like this: buy $100 worth of gift cards and you’ll receive a free $25 card, buy $200, and you’ll receive a free $50 card, and on and on and on. To purchase, stop by the restaurant or call 206-625-0129.

Here is why a gift card to Steelhead Diner is always a good gift:

You hear a lot of complaints about service at Seattle restaurants. But they’re not coming from regulars of Steelhead, where Oceanaire alum chef Kevin Davis (he owns the restaurant with wife Teresa) heads an impressively courteous and perceptive crew. A southerner who is right at home in front of a deep-fryer, Davis also knows how to make the best of the Northwest’s bountiful seafood. I love his razer clam chowder, his decadent, rainbow-hued caviar pie, his deep-fried Totten Inlet Virginica oysters over grits (a twist on traditional shrimp and grits). The restaurant manages to be casual and approachable—the menu has plenty of things kids love, like flash fried Beecher’s cheese curds—and still serve interesting, intelligent dishes.

Enjoy.
