Geraldine’s Counter Feeds the Hungry

Decorate cookies, chow mac ‘n’ cheese, support an overburdened food bank

Go here tonight.

Tonight: A harmonic convergence of great comfort food and a great cause happens at Geraldine’s Counter, in beautiful downtown Columbia City.

Great cause: Rainier Valley Food Bank, which is seeing an unprecedented rise in needy customers—up 60 percent from last year—and an unprecedented fall in donations. Thank you, economy. This for the only food bank serving southeast Seattle.

Event: From 6pm this evening, pay $25 per person (or $80 per table of four) for a mac-n-cheese dinner, a dozen cookies donated by Pinks Original Bakery, all the bells and whistles you need to decorate said cookies, and prizes for the winners of decorating contests.

And a great feeling from knowing that your money went to benefit the Rainier Valley Food Bank. And that unbelievable mac ‘n’ cheese: crunchy top, five cheeses, a little spank of jalapeno.

We love you Geraldine’s.
