WHAT’S NEXT: Owner Christen Cottam is going mobile. She’ll meet with clients in a private office setting, and at perfume counters all over the city to help them select their best scents. Cottam’s fragrance classes will live on as well; keep an eye on her website for news.
CLOSED: Flora and Henri in the Oddfellows Building
WHAT’S NEXT: Tiny Parisian fashion is still available via the Flora and Henri website, but we’re not anticipating the return of a brick-and-mortar. What would you like to see occupy the sweet spot there between NuBe Green and Molly Moon’s? EDIT: An intern who’s smarter than I am informed me that Molly Moon’s is expanding and using the former Flora and Henri space to build out a bigger kitchen.
CLOSED: Velocity Art and Design in South Lake Union
WHAT’S NEXT: Depends on who you talk to, but there are plenty of shoppers who are incredibly angry with former owner John Tusher. The website is non-functioning, and provides no contact information, and I’ve heard from two parties whose accounts have been debited, but whose orders have not been filled. Yelp catalogs still more of these examples. It’s frustrating to say the least. I always loved pulling merchandise from Velocity, and shopping there for myself as well. The staff was on top of things and fun and easy to interact with, and Tusher himself was an inspiration. I never would have expected to see the store go down this way, and I suspect we haven’t heard the last of it.
