Kicked out of its showy digs at Second and Wall, America’s favorite wine bar will spend the summer on Capitol Hill.

The Local Vine

The past few weeks have been tough ones for The Local Vine, the beautifully designed wine bar in the doomed McGuire building at Second and Wall in Belltown. The building’s structural problems were deemed too severe to fix, and TLV will have to vacate by July 31.

The plan is to relocate temporarily on Capitol Hill (in the 12th Avenue spot that housed the short-lived Pizza Fusion, according to the Capitol Hill Seattle blog) during the summer of 2010, eventually relocating to a new, permanent location in Belltown.

But then something good happened. On May 1, the Local Vine was named the best wine bar in a readers’ poll conducted by Luxist.

This proves once again that we Seattleites are really good at supporting our local businesses through online voting. I’ll keep you posted on the Local Vine’s plans and whereabouts as I learn details.
