We’ve long known an impending development and a change in landlord meant the days were numbered for Broadway’s El Mestizo.

It appears the end has come.

According to a note on the El Mestizo website: "We are officially closed for business. Thank you to all our loyal patrons who made these two years so wonderful, we will miss you all. Stay tuned as we look to reopen in a better location during better economic times." Calls to the restaurant went unanswered, and a recording relayed a similar message.

In June a rep for El Mestizo told CHS owners were hoping to relocate within Capitol Hill or Madrona but weren’t expecting to close until May of next year.

Here’s hoping the restaurant gets its feet back on the ground soon.
