Cheap Wine for Weeknights: a budget bottle from Portugal

My Dad has taught me many things over the years: limericks, Old English words you can use to dominate in Scrabble, how to draw a horse. He also taught be about vinho verde, the low-alcohol, slightly sparkly Portuguese wine that tastes great with seafood and makes a great weekday aperitif.
My current go-to is Famega, which I got last week at the Ballard Fred Meyer for $8.99 a bottle. I believe they stock it at Safeway too. Is it great wine? No it’s not. But the grapes are sourced from Alvarihno, the region where the world’s best vinho verdes are made, and you can really taste the quality. Come warmer days, this also makes for a good-time picnic wine.
