Cinerama Screens Classics for Its 70mm Film Festival

Film buffs love their 70mm movies. It's fairly simple to see why: the larger format showcases crisper, brighter, more detailed images. That's why 70mm has become the favored format of modern cinematic masters Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, and Paul Thomas Anderson. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that local moviegoing oasis Cinerama would host its own 70mm Film Festival.
Taking place from September 9–21, the Cinerama 70mm Film Festival features 17 movies including the classics Lawrence of Arabia, Apocalypse Now, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Spartacus, The Sound of Music, and Patton, plus newer fare like Interstellar, The Master, and The Hateful Eight. After 2016 delivered one of the weakest summer movie seasons ever, it'll be nice to see some actual quality on the big screen once again.
Tickets for the Cinerama 70mm Film Festival go on sale next Monday, August 22 at Cinerama.com. Seats cost $15.
