It's been a while since Flight of the Conchords last soared. New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo-a capella-rap-funk-comedy-folk duo burst onto the scene with its musical HBO sitcom in 2007 and subsequently released two LPs on Sub Pop Records. But aside from a dozen dates as part of the Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival in 2013, the band hasn't been terribly active since the release of I Told You I Was Freaky in 2009. During their time apart, Bret McKenzie has been busy writing songs for Muppets and winning Oscars, while Jemaine Clement focused on his acting career, including a starring role in last year's acclaimed cult comedy What We Do In the Shadows.
But fear not, Mels of the world. This summer Flight of the Conchords reunites for the Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour, where the duo will unveil new tunes and play fan favorites. As part of the directly named tour, Flight of the Conchords flock to Marymoor Park on Wednesday, June 22. Make sure to wear your business socks.
Tickets for Flight of the Conchords at Marymoor Park go on sale this Friday, March 4 at 10am via axs.com.
