Monday Morning Pick-Me-Up: Seahawks Thrash the Cardinals

Plus, '7 Minutes in Heaven' returns and Lemmy passes.

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?!?

The NFC's road to Super Bowl 50 won't travel through Seattle this year, but the Seahawks don't seem too concerned with taking their show on the road. On Sunday, the Hawks locked up the 5-seed by thumping of the Arizona Cardinals 36-6 in Glendale. It was pure domination as Russell Wilson wrapped up the NFL's QB rating title with 197 yards and three touchdowns, and the Legion of Boom laid claim to allowing the fewest points in the leage for the fourth straight year (a feat only done once before... by the Cleveland Browns... in the 1950s).

The Seahawks now have a date with the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday at 10:05am (televised on NBC). Las Vegas opened the betting line with the Seahawks as a touchdown favorite (-7) on the road. And while Seattle should win and take another step towards becoming the first NFC team to make three straight Super Bowls, 12s should keep in mind the last time the Seahawks played in a Wild Card game where the road team was heavily favored.

HEAVENLY RETURN

After four years away, one of the web's best video series returned last week. Former Saturday Night Live cast member and writer Mike O'Brien's talk show 7 Minutes in Heaven brings celebrities ranging from Kirsten Wiig to the Insane Clown Posse into the cramped corridors of a closet for awkward questions, role playing, and (of course) a kiss. The immensely likable O'Brien's low key humor and general affability makes each episode a comedic delight. The first new video in years features WWE superstar John Cena acting out tag team couples therapy and chatting about body odor, hat making, and training tips to help "win the wrestle." Why SNL didn't just place 7 Minutes in Heaven in the show's prerecorded bits slot on a weekly basis when O'Brien was a cast member instead of the often abysmal anti-humor shorts they've trotted out for most of the post-Lonely Island era will forever go down as an inexplicable missed opportunity.

GOOD TWEETS OF THE WEEK

These are good tweets, y’all...

LONG LIVE THE ACE OF SPADES

Rock and roll lost one of its true icon when Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead died last Monday at the age of 70. Damn near a mascot of the rock lifestyle, Lemmy lived with an unrelenting attitude that matched the music he played: hard, loud, fast, and debaucherous. While a listen to Motörhead's signature tune "Ace of Spades" is required when paying tribute to the man, the touching gruffness and overflowing character of Lemmy's voice on his version of "Stand By Me" packs even more of an emotional punch.
