THEATER
Sun, Sept 26
Wooden O: Seattle Center Doubleheader
Seattle Shakespeare’s outdoor Wooden O performances make for the ideal cheap date (free admission!). While theater buffs will enjoy the epic drama of Henry IV, those wanting to curl up on a blanket may be lured by the romantic comedy of As You Like It. Performances will take place at various venues throughout the month, but you can catch both shows in a doubleheader at Seattle Center on July 26. Seattle Center Fisher Pavilion, Free
SPECIAL EVENT
July 24–26
BAM Artsfair
This weekend marks the return of the Northwest’s largest arts and crafts festival. Bellevue Arts Museum’s ARTSfair features over 300 artists selling and showcasing their work at Bellevue Square. And those less artistically inclined souls needn’t worry, as there will also be food trucks, a KIDSfair, a Sound and Movement Stage, and more. Bellevue Arts Museum, Free
July 24–26
Capitol Hill Block Party
Before the late addition of Father John Misty, this year’s Capitol Hill Block Party lineup wasn’t likely to blow anyone away, but there were still gems worth braving the mass of humanity that crowds three blocks of Pike Street. It’s hard to go wrong with the veteran rock vibes of Built to Spill, TV on the Radio, and Kathleen Hanna (of the Julie Ruin), and the warm beats created by Jamie XX should make for a great summer night of sweaty dancing amongst the hip horde. Capitol Hill, $50; festival pass $125–$250
VISUAL ARTS
July 25–Jan 4
Chihuly’s Venetians: The George R. Stroemple Collection
Dale Chihuly’s studies at Italy’s Venini glass factory as a Fulbright Fellow left a lasting impact on the man. It led to one of his most explosively creative periods two decades later, in the late ’80s. Starting with a base in the functionality of Art Deco–inspired bowls and jars, Chihuly’s Venetians soon took on his colorful flair and trademark lavish ornamentation. Museum of Glass, $15
THE SPORTING LIFE
Fri, July 24
Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays: Fireworks Night
Sparks will literally fly when you take that special someone to Safeco Field for one of the Mariners’ Fireworks Nights. One great thing about Mariners baseball as a date: It’ll either be a thrilling affair or they’ll be so out of it, you’ll have a lot of time to talk. Safeco Field, $22–$600
Sun, July 26
Seattle Reign FC vs. Portland Thorns FC
New FIFA 16 cover athlete Alex Morgan won't be on the field when the Portland Thorns visit Seattle (she's out after knee surgery), but the Reign's opponents will still have midfielder Tobin Heath, who notched a goal in the World Cup Final. It's not quite Sounders versus Timbers, but we still like beating up on Portland whenever given the chance. Memorial Stadium, $19
DANCE
Fri & Sat, July 24 & 25
Strictly Seattle Performances
After three weeks of intensive training in the massive pseudo summer camp that is Strictly Seattle, dancers of all levels show off their skills in new works choreographed by a faculty of noteworthy locals: Zoe Scofield, Kate Wallich, Pat Graney, KT Niehoff, and more. If only every camp talent show was this exciting. Velocity Dance Center, $18

Vote Roderick Stamp-a-Thon with the Long Winters
Regardless of your political affiliations, there’s no denying that city council hopeful John Roderick knows how to throw a party. With the ballots already sent out, Roderick hosts a night of music (with a dash of political awareness — your ballots need stamps!) featuring his own band, the Long Winters, plus Matt Bishop (Hey Marseilles), Eric Anderson (Cataldo), and more of the politician’s musical pals. Even if you’re voting for someone else, the event should be a blast. The Triple Door, $20

Hagereseb: Neighborhood Screening
After premiering at SIFF 2015 and making the festival rounds (including winning Best Short Film at the San Francisco Black Film Festival), Zia Mohajerjasbi’s Hagereseb returns home to Seattle for a screening at the Egyptian. The Yessler Terrace-set short tells the story of 10-year-old Abai and his time-sensitive journey to find a fresh set of batteries for his keyboard so he can get one last family music lesson before his older brother gets sent back to Eritrea. SIFF Cinema Egyptian, $7
Thur, July 23
Redhook Moonlight Cinema: Dazed and Confused
Richard Linklater’s coming-of-age comedy about high schoolers in the 1970s and their drug experimentations has earned cult-classic status since its 1993 debut. But the kids’ marijuana use isn’t only recreational; it’s a form of pure rebellion against adults in their straitlaced hometown. That’s alright, alright, alright in our books. Redhook Brewery, $5
