Monday Morning Pick-Me-Up: Beast Mode Returns, Conan in Cuba, and the Physics

Rest easy, Seahawks fans...
Beast mode Fear not Seahwaks fans, Beast Mode has not left the building. On Friday, Marshawn Lynch agreed to a new three-year deal potentially worth $24 million (no word on the assumed contract stipulation mandating he receive the ball on the one-yard line...). To celebrate his return, here's a video of Lynch's greatest run recreated in the eight-bit glory of Tecmo Bowl.
Read Speaking of atypical athletes, ESPN the Magazine's Eli Saslow wrote a fascinating article on the Toronto Blue Jays' top pitching prospect, Daniel Norris. Despite already having made millions of dollars, Norris spends his offseasons living in a 1978 Volkswagen camper van and subsisting on $800 a month. No, it's not a Matt Foley situation, but there's more than a little outsider edge to Norris's way of life, and it doesn't exactly gel with the conservative conformity of professional sports.
Watch With the United States embargo against Cuba potentially coming to an end soon, Conan O'Brien decided to take his talk show down to the island nation and get to know its people. The results exist as a one-off episode entitled Conan in Cuba. There something special about seeing people who have no idea who Conan is laugh at his absurd antics while attempting to roll cigars, sampling rum, brushing up on his Spanish, and learning the rumba (and it's equally amusing when they're unimpressed). The entire episode is hilarious, but Conan's attempt to join a Cuban salsa band provides a good taste of the cross-cultural comedy on display.
Watch + Listen Late last night, electronic music fairy queen Grimes released a video for "Realiti." Flush with a stunning color palette, the video documents Grimes dancing and singing around cosmopolitan Asia on her 2013 tour. She's essentially throwing the clip out into the ether for pure enjoyment, as it won't appear on her highly anticipated upcoming album (and if a song so simply catchy isn't good enough to make the cut on the record, it's time to raise said anticipation level even higher).
Watch + Laugh As part of Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars on Sunday night (which raised funds for autism education), Bob Barker and Adam Sandler reunited for one more round of Happy Gilmore–inspired fisticuffs. Because sometimes superbly sophomoric comedy hits the spot.
Listen For a little Seattle spice to start your week off right, check out "About You," the latest track from the Physics. It's the hip-hop group's first new music since the terrific 2013 release Digital Wildlife and sports the same lush, contemplative vibe that we've come to expect from commercial star Gathigi Gishuru (aka Thig Nat) and crew.
