Degenerate Art Ensemble provides a special treat for the latest installment of Silent Movie Mondays at the Paramount, as it plays a live full orchestra score to the 1927 sci-fi classic Metropolis. DAE's score has been described as "a wild ride of soaring orchestral melodies, big band rowdiness and analog synth wizardry." It will truly be a unique way to watch the silver screen classic. As one of the forces behind the seminal band Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon informed and influenced '90s grunge and alternative and all the subgenre those scenes spawned. But this Seattle visit for Gordon is about talking, not rocking. Gordon heads to the Neptune Theatre to discuss her new book Girl in a Band in conversation with Sub Pop's Bruce Pavitt. Charles Bradley and the Ton Tons
Lagunitas Brewing Company and O+, a nonprofit arts and wellness organization, are hitting the road to Austin for SXSW. They are stopping at a handful of cities along the way, bringing with them musicians, artists, and of course beer. With Philadelphia and L.A. already behind them, Seattle's CouchTrippin' stop includes Charles Bradley performing with the Ton Tons. It's first come first serve. The Comparables
When breaking the glass ceiling, must women shower those left behind with cutting shards? Seattle Rep tackles the topic of professional female cruelty with the world premiere of Laura Schellhardt’s dark comedy The Comparables. The feminist satire follows three upscale real estate agents and their battles to get ahead in the workplace while taking a probing look at the potentially destructive ways in which women compete with each other.
