Intiman Theatre concludes it's epic summer of Angels in American this weekend.

THEATER

Thru Sept 21
Angels in America: Perestroika
It's time for the Intiman Theatre to bid adieu to Angels in America. The past month the summer festival has been dedicated entirely to presenting both halves of Tony Kushner's AIDS epic: Millennium Approaches and Perestrioka. The acting on display has been as good as you'll find on any Seattle stage this year. If you've put it off, catch Angels in America in its final weekend. Thursday and Friday feature performances of the play's magical-realism conclusion Perestrioka, while Saturday and Sunday feature performances of both halves. Cornish Playhouse, $45–$68.

FILM

Thur, Sept 18
Women in Cinema Opening Night: Laggies
A local audience has the chance to see what might be director Lynn Shelton's mainstream breakthough when Laggies opens SIFF's annual Women in Cinema mini-festival. The director's latest feature follows Megan (Keira Knightley), a woman in her late 20s who—after receiving a wedding proposal—lays low and becomes close friends with a high schooler named Annika (Chloë Grace Moretz). As Megan attempts to piece together her life, she becomes involved Annika’s father (Sam Rockwell). Shelton and her Seattle crew will be in attendance at the screening to give Laggies a proper local welcoming before its official theatrical release on October 24. The screening will be followed by an afterparty at Capitol Cider. Egyptian Theatre, sold out (standby tickets may be available).

CHARITY EVENTS

Fri, Sept 19
Approximately 90 Minutes with Will Ferrell and Some Other People...: A Cancer for College Fundrasier
Laughter is the best medicine but it can't cure all ills, even comedy superstar Will Ferrell know that. In order to help battle cancer, Ferrell heads to Meany Hall for the aptly named fundraiser Approximately 90 Minutes with Will Ferrell and Some Other People....  He joins his friend Craig Pollard, a cancer survivor and founder of Cancer for College, for a night of laughter and inspiration for a great cause. Meany Hall, $75–$150.

FOOD & DRINK

Sept 19–21
Fremont Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest in Seattle has become synonymous with Fremont’s neighborhood-wide party, and with good reason. For starters, it boasts the Coachella of beer gardens. At the Tasting Garden you can sample 80 different microbrews and German offerings. Or, if you are more inclined to chug Bitburger out of a glass boot, the Buxom Beer Garden is probably more your speed. New this year: on Sunday the tasting garden will be open to all ages (with a paying adult) for some family-friendly activities. Fremont, $20–$30.

THE SPORTING LIFE

Sun, Sept 21
Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos
Future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and the Broncos will be licking their chops for another shot at the Hawks after being embarrassed in Super Bowl XLVIII. And thanks to key off-season acquisitions like pass rusher DeMarcus Ware, the Broncos will do their best to make Russell Wilson miserable and reverse last February’s result. CenturyLink Field, sold out. Televised on CBS.

FASHION & STYLE

Thur, Sept 18
Fall Fashion Showcase at the Bravern
The Bravern celebrates its fifth anniversary with the Fall Fashion Showcase. Festivities include two Neiman Marcus-produced fashion shows, live mannequins, a live band and DJ, food and drink, a photo booth, and sketch artists. Guests will have a chance to pose in front of cameras on the red carpet, and see fitness and style demonstrations from the experts. Additionally, restaurants and shops will offer trunk shows featuring fall/winter collections, gifts with purchase, samples, and complimentary beverages. The Bravern, free.

Sat, Sept 20
Downtown Seattle Rock the Runway
The Third Annual Downtown Seattle Rocks the Runway fall fashion show kicks off a city-wide celebration of Seattle fashion with a runway show, good food, and a chance to give some money back to the community. VIP tickets are available for those looking for a nice swag bag and access to the Roche Bobois VIP Lounge. Obama's been there, no big deal. Paramount Theatre, $50–$175.

CONCERTS

Thur, Sept 18
Heart
Local rock legend Heart looks to get super intimate for its next Seattle gig. While Wilson sisters and company can pack fans into arenas and theaters, they're downsizing their mammoth rock show for a club setting this fall. As part of The Showbox's 75th anniversary celebration, Heart heads to venue by the Market for its smallest Seattle gig in years. The Showbox, sold out.

Thru Sept 21
Captain Smartypants: Starstruck
Seattle Men’s Chorus ensemble Captain Smartypants goes Hollywood with its latest campy production. Starstruck dives deep into the cinematic world and emerges with a singing Batman, an original theme song for Gravity, odes to the actresses gay men adore, and plenty of Disney princesses. The Triple Door, $25–$35.

OUT OF TOWN

Sept 18–21
Feast Portland
The fancy national-scale food and drink festival returns to our southerly neighbor for a third year, bringing with it a flock of high-profile chefs, amazing meals, edu-taining workshops, and enough beer, wine, and spirits tastes to keep you buzzed for days. It's the Northwest's own version of those fancy schmancy food festivals (Aspen, South Beach, etc.) that you see in magazine pages and in awkward cross-promotional references on Top Chef. Various restaurants, Portland, $55–$530.
