Watch Christopher Wheeldon Choreograph a Ballet

He's so smooth.

Critics are having a love attack over the new 18-minute Christopher Wheeldon ballet created for the Pacific Northwest Ballet. Tide Harmonic debuted last Friday during the Director's Choice program and people haven't stopped talking about it: how the world-class choreographer put it together in three weeks, with changes being made up until the final dress rehearsal (and during a public lecture/demonstration). It's rare that an audience gets to watch the rehearsal process, and rarer still when the ballet company is testing a brand-new work. Watch the making of Tide Harmonic below, then catch a final performance this weekend.

PNB: Director's Choice
Thru June 9, McCaw Hall, $28–$173
