George (Andy Garcia) and Edith (Vera Farmiga) rediscover puppy love in Middleton.

We hear that...

Director Joss Whedon, wife-producer Kai Cole, and several cast members of Much Ado About NothingAmy Acker (Beatrice), Alexis Denisof (Benedick), Clark Gregg (Leonato), Nathan Fillion (Dogberry)—will be at the Seattle International Film Festival opening-night screening and afterparty on May 16. But you already knew that. This thing sold out in a day.

What you might not know is that...

Andy Garcia, Vera Farmiga, Tom Skerritt, director and cowriter Adam Rodgers and cowriter Glenn German will be at Harvard Exit for the North American premiere of their film Middleton on May 17. The romantic comedy, filmed on campuses across Washington state, stars Garcia and Farmiga as parents who find a little romance while dragging their kids on a college tour. Skerritt guest stars as a "curmudgeonly professor."

Yakima native Kyle MacLachlan will receive SIFF's Outstanding Achievement in Acting award on June 3, followed by a Q&A and Twin Peaks screening at SIFF Cinema Uptown.

British director Peter Greenaway—he of erotic-art films The Pillow Book and Goltzius and the Pelican Company, and a favorite of SIFF artistic director Carl Spence—will lead a lecture at SIFF Cinema Uptown on May 19.

And as of now, actors Katie Change and Israel Broussard will represent closing-night film The Bling Ring at Cinerama. (What, no Emma Watson or Sofia Coppola? Expect an update; this is the North American premiere of Coppola's new movie.)
