Shabazz Palaces’s Ishmael Butler (aka Palaceer Lazaro) at Neumos on Feb 17, 2011.

Who needs zombies, fireworks, or Blue Angels this July when we have Paul McCartney at Safeco, the Flaming Lips at Capitol Hill Block Party, and a free Sub Pop anniversary concert?

The local record label just announced a partial lineup for its Silver Jubilee on July 13. On the bill: Mudhoney (also celebrating its 25th anniversary), Built to Spill, Shabazz Palaces, Father John Misty, Greg Dulli, J Mascis, Metz, Shearwater, Pissed Jeans, Clipping, the Baptist Generals, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth featuring Tad Doyle, and Endino’s Earthworm featuring Nirvana producer Jack Endino.

Sub Pop plans to add more acts from its roster—past and present, bands and comedians—for the all-day celebration on Airport Way in Georgetown. (Fingers crossed for the Postal Service and Flight of the Conchords. We dream big.) We already know there will be food trucks, beer gardens with plenty of brews from Georgetown Brewing and Elysian, a record fair, "at least one gallery exhibit," and the Sub Pop Mega Mart as a pop-up store. The event is free, but a suggested $5 donation will help out local nonprofits like KEXP, Northwest Harvest, and the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation. More to come...
