Seattle SXSW Sendoff Shows

Next week hundreds of bands will make a pilgrimage to Austin for the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) music and film festival. And though the concert lineup is crowded, Seattle will represent in a big way March 12–17 with headliners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and Allen Stone, up-and-comers Reignwolf and Ivan and Alyosha, and a slew of lesser-known acts looking for their big break.
To prep for the long haul to Texas, a few local bands will play sendoff shows across the city this week. Neumos hosts the most diverse going-away gig tomorrow, March 5, with dream-pop duo Lemolo, otherworldly hip-hop purveyor OC Notes, high-energy rapper Spac3man, and youthful pop-rock act Seacats. Also tomorrow: psychedelic rock outfit the Pharmacy launches its SXSW tour at Chop Suey with support from Pony Time and Stickers, two garage rock bands that’ll tour together on their way to Austin.
Noisy power-pop quartet In Cahoots plays a free show Thursday on the Triple Door’s Musicquarium stage (with an opening set by non-SXSW but Culture Fiend Album of the Month act the Hoot Hoots) before heading to Texas. And as previously mentioned, Pickwick is playing two free in-store shows at Easy Street and Sonic Boom Records (March 4 & 5) before departing on its southern trek.
