The Shins Play the Paramount this Saturday

James Mercer's ever-evolving indie rock band is practically a Seattle act these days.

By Seattle Met Staff September 17, 2012

The Shins have rotated through more members than American Idol has judges, but lead singer James Mercer has always been the constant. (We hear the band was initially forged from one of his ribs.) After a five-year hiatus, the indie rockers returned in March with a new album, Port of Morrow, and a new look. The Albuquerque-to-Portland band now has some Seattle blood: Deep Sea Diver’s Jessica Dobson (lead guitar), Crystal Skulls’ Yuuki Matthews (bass), and Modest Mouse’s Joe Plummer (drums). It’s practically a local act—for today, at least.

The Shins (with Washed Out)
Sept 22 at 8, Paramount Theatre, sold out (tickets are available from $58 on StubHub)
