Summer in the City

Free Outdoor Dance Classes Across Seattle

Dancing Til Dusk is back. Learn to swing, salsa, and waltz in Seattle parks all summer long.

By Seattle Met Staff August 7, 2012

Dancing til Dusk is an annual summer series that provides free one-hour classes followed by two-hours of free dance. It all culminates with an event at Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park on August 30.

Learn to swing, salsa, tango, and waltz from a pro—for free—before trying out your new moves at one of the Dancing Til Dusk nights. The annual outdoor dance series is in full swing (oh pun), with eight more outings in Seattle parks scheduled through August 30. If you, like us, are prone to stepping on toes and trying to lead when you shouldn't, don't be scared off by the whole "dancing in public" thing. Every session starts with a one-hour class, and according to past swing instructor Ari Levitt, “If you can walk and hold hands, then you’re already halfway there.” Still not convinced? View the slide show above.

Valse Cafe Orchestra plays the waltz and swing tonight at Westlake Park from 6–9, but if it looks like rain, call ahead: 206-264-5646. All are welcome.
