While summer festival season is in full swing, it’s never too early to look to fall offerings. Heineken CityArts Festival just announced its initial lineup of artists and musicians, and the biggest ticket is one we mentioned last month: David Byrne and St. Vincent will headline at 5th Avenue Theatre with a performance of songs from their much anticipated collaboration Love This Giant (October 17). The rest of the lineup includes electro-funk duo Ghostland Observatory playing at PacSci’s Laser Dome, the Irish post-punk of Two Door Cinema Club, and lots of great locals (The Maldives, Lemolo, Reignwolf, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, My Goodness, etc.). Beyond the concert lineup, this year’s festival is encouraging patrons to interact more with the city via the “Urban Arts Adventure” series. Festivalgoers will be sent around town to secret, nontraditional venues to see works by dance-art group zoe | juniper, marimba master Erin Jorgensen, and more. The lineup isn’t finalized (needs more Laser Dome), but more artists will be announced soon.
