TONIGHT: National Theatre Live’s The Kitchen

London theater comes to the big screen at SIFF.

By Laura Dannen November 1, 2011

Tonight at 7, SIFF broadcasts a London production of Arnold Wesker’s bustling ensemble drama The Kitchen, as 30 line cooks, waiters, and porters endure nonstop lunch orders and unrequited love in a 1950s West End restaurant. Anyone who’s ever worked in a restaurant may feel it hits a little too close to home, but the chaos of clanging pans, plates, and angry sous chefs looks extremely well choreographed. Tickets for this final screening are $20 ($15 for SIFF members).

Before the show starts, chef Thierry Rautureau of Rover’s and Luc (“the chef in the hat”) will host a live version of his KUOW radio show What’s in Your Fridge?, so come a little early and bring a list of your fridge’s contents.

See National Theatre Live: The Kitchen tonight at 7 at SIFF Cinema at the Uptown.
