Grab a stein at the beer garden within a beer garden at Fremont Oktoberfest.

IMBIBERS If you can’t be in Munich with a stein in hand this month, be in the “Center of the Universe” for the annual Fremont Oktoberfest, where your cup overflows with ales, lagers, and pilsners from more than 40 different breweries. Sept 23–25.

CONCERT Duran Duran called on producer Mark Ronson, who’s worked with Adele and Amy Winehouse, to elevate new album All You Need Is Now to early-’80s glory. Hear the British new wavers at Comcast Arena in Everett. Sept 23.

KICKOFF PARTIES The U District’s 90-year-old Neptune Theatre, once slated for closure, celebrates its official reopening as a concert, theater, and film venue with a week of free events. The fun starts this Sunday. Sept 25–29.

Monthlong Arts Crush hosts its annual kickoff fair this Sunday, 11–2 at McCaw Hall. Note: This is where you go to get a priority code for free theater/event tickets. Sept 25.

VISUAL ART For four decades, feminist artist Carolee Schneemann has tackled sexual taboos through painting, video, and performance art. Meat Joy featured nudes with raw meat long before Gaga put on a steak dress. The Henry’s new retrospective shows the breadth of Schneemann’s gender studies. Sept 24–Dec 30.

DANCE Pacific Northwest Ballet opens its 2011 season with All Wheeldon, a program of four short works that pay tribute to the “It Boy” of modern ballet, Christopher Wheeldon. Sept 23–Oct 2.

BENEFIT Hard to believe it’s been 25 years since Seattle started running for a cure for HIV/AIDS. Support the Lifelong AIDS Alliance’s ongoing efforts to educate and fundraise; the Seattle AIDS Walk and 5k Run loops around Capitol Hill and ends with a party at Volunteer Park. Sept 24.

CLASSICAL New Seattle Symphony conductor Ludovic Morlot takes the baton for the first of nine Masterworks concerts he’ll lead this season: Beethoven’s larger-than-life Eroica Symphony with its famed funeral march in the second movement. Sept 22–25.

SPORTS After being shut out by the Steelers 24-0 in Pittsburgh last week (eek), the Seahawks take on the Arizona Cardinals in their home opener at CenturyLink Field (formerly Qwest Field, now affectionately dubbed Clink Field). Sept 25.

NOSTALGIA September 24 marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s Nevermind album. Celebrate all weekend at EMP. Sept 24 & 25.
