No more queues!

Arts Crush—a little slice of cultural insanity.

Theatre Puget Sound’s annual Live Theater Week in October—with its backstage tours of local theaters and free tickets to dozens of shows—morphed into Arts Crush last year, a month-long artstravaganza including hundreds of theater, film, and dance events; lectures and concerts; and interactive art projects across greater Seattle. And, of course, free tickets to dozens of shows.

The ticket giveaway will work a little differently this year, though. In the past, you had to queue up forever to receive a gratis pass. This time, you’ll have two weeks, from September 16-29, to enter to win up to five pairs of tickets to any of the 50+ performances. Visit during that time to create an online profile, where you list your top five choices. Tickets will be distributed randomly and winners alerted by email on October 4. To play this game right, get your friends and family members to create their own profiles, or attend the Arts Crush Kickoff Fair (Sept 25, 11-2 at McCaw Hall) to obtain a priority code that will bump you to the top of the lottery list.

Not sure who’s participating in the free ticket giveaway yet, but I do know that Khaled Hosseini (author of The Kite Runner), Seattle Rep’s Humor Abuse, and ACT Theatre’s Double Indemnity (all Fall Arts Picks) are featured events this year. Here’s the latest Arts Crush calendar.

And you know the best time to try something new or completely random? When the other guy’s paying. Take a risk—it’s free.

Arts Crush runs through October across Puget Sound. For more info, visit
