We’ve got at least “One Day More” of Les Misérables.
THEATER Revolution returns to the streets of Paris in Cameron Mackintosh’s new staging of Les Miserables at 5th Avenue Theatre. For the 25th-anniversary production, familiar anthems and epic flag-waving are set against a backdrop inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. Thru Aug 27.
A play about a vibrator? It’s quite the stimulating experience. (Ohh.) Don’t miss Sarah Ruhl’s Tony-nominated comedy In the Next Room, or the vibrator play, now on stage at ACT. Thru Aug 28.
CONCERTS British soul singer Adele makes up for breaking her date with Seattle in June by rescheduling for this Friday, with the incomparable Wanda Jackson opening. (Yes, it’s the Wanda Jackson, rockabilly queen and Hall of Famer who used to share a stage with Elvis. Anyone want to sell us two tickets to this show, please?) Aug 12.
Though it’s tough to play Seattle the same night as Adele, Irish siren Imelda May brings her own brand of rockabilly to the Neptune Theatre. Aug 12.
After a ten-year hiatus from touring, Sade is back on the road with remastered versions of her classic R&B grooves; John Legend joins at KeyArena. Aug 14.
OUTDOOR FUN We’ve already mentioned a few of these in our post about 10 outdoor movies, concerts, and parties this weekend, but if the weather holds, be sure to stop by late-night art party SAM Remix at Olympic Sculpture Park or the SLU Block Party on Friday night; grab a patch of lawn for the screening of Inception at Mural Amphitheatre; jeer the dirty water-lovin’ Boston Red Sox when they play the Mariners; or swoon to singer-songwriter Amos Lee at Chateau Ste. Michelle on Saturday.
Not a bad weekend, eh?
