This Week in Music

The Maldives (top) and the Moondoggies play Showbox at the Market.
This year’s KEXP/No Depression holiday show is all about roots music majesty: Local acts the Maldives and the Moondoggies will share a bill at Showbox at the Market on Saturday, Dec 18, with Drew Grow and the Pastors’ Wives opening. We have a soft spot for the Maldives’ front man Jason Dodson and his tequila-swilling ways. Tickets are $15.
On Sunday, Dec 19, classically trained cellists rock out to hip-hop covers and indie pop. For this show at the Triple Door, Portland Cello Project will collaborate with the Corin Tucker Band, Drew Grow, Typhoon, Golden Bears, and Kaylee Cole. Tickets are $16-$18.
And on Tuesday, Dec 21, the Boys and Girls Club fundraiser at Neumos, For the Love of Music CD release party, features the best in local rap, hip hop and electro-rap (if you want to get really specific): Shabazz Palaces, Mad Rad, THEESatisfaction, Champagne Champagne, Fresh Espresso, Macklemore, Mash Hall, and more. Tickets are $15.
