I don’t care what you have planned for Monday night—even if it’s sleeping. Conan O’Brien returns to late night at 11pmET on TBS, and it’s the kind of thing you should stay up for, just so you can weigh in at work/school/noon cocktail hour with the ladies. Will Conan let loose now that NBC isn’t breathing down his neck? Will fans follow him to TBS? Will the Dancing Taco in the video above make an appearance? Here’s hoping.
If you’re looking to read up on Conan before the show airs, you don’t have to look far: every major daily in the country (and a few in Canada) seem to be chatting about him right now. Plus he’s on the cover of Rolling Stone; gives a looong, slightly rambling interview to New York magazine’s Culture Vulture blog; is featured in the War for Late Night excerpt in Vanity Fair (a great read); and does a candid interview with Playboy …according to Us Weekly. I wonder if George Lopez is bitter that he never got this kind of press moving to TBS.
Fun fact: Conan’s wife is from Seattle.
In a slice of randomness: Local boy Joel McHale (comedian, star of Community and a UW grad) brought out the scotch and the sass on the fourth hour of the Today Show with Hoda and Kathie Lee recently. He makes Hoda squirm—laugh, but squirm.
