Charley’s Aunt Is Looking Good

When in doubt, throw a man in a skirt.

The Importance of Being Earnest it’s not, but Taproot Theatre’s production of 19th-century romp Charley’s Aunt is still everything they bill it to be: light-hearted fun. Two Oxford boys dress a friend in drag to “chaperone” their double date, and in the vein of a Shakespeare comedy, mistaken identity prompts lords to fall for not-quite-ladies. Sure, it’s silly and runs too long, but a dose of drag and a hilarious butler (Don Brady) are always good for a laugh.

Charley’s Aunt runs through June 12.
