In honor of the 40th anniversary of Bumbershoot, festival organizers have arranged "40 Ways to Celebrate" leading up to the main event September 4-6. Among them: a kickoff party at the Hard Rock Cafe on June 2 with Bumbershoot band Boat; a screening of the documentary Strange Powers , about Bumbershoot performer Stephin Merritt (Magnetic Fields) on June 6 and 7; and an exhibition of Bumbershoot poster art at Seattle’s City Hall.
