All advance reports from friends in Portland who’ve seen the show assure me that The Shipment, the comic show about black identity politics which opens this Thursday at On the Boards, lives up to the hype from New York that I mentioned in our Fall Arts Guide last month. One warning for the faint of heart—or bonus for the blue of mouth: The opening monologue is, I’m told, rather dazzlingly filthy. I’ll be there on Thursday; if the show bombs you can bust my chops in person—look for the balding guy in the audience going “D’oh!”
