E.T. Phones Homo

It’s not like he hasn’t done drag already.
I’ve previously written about Ian Bell’s Brown Derby Series and, well, nothing’s changed since then. The collection of fringe actors who gather to mock/celebrate some of our worst/best movies via staged screenplay readings can still either hand you the funniest night of your life or the longest, depending on how much they packed into their scant “rehearsals,” how much off-the-cuff humor they insert into performance, and how much alcohol they/you consume on whatever evening the show is taking place.
This week they’re getting their nasty little hands on E.T.: The Extraterrestrial and it takes a stronger man than me to resist E.T. as interpreted by a drag queen (Jackie Hell, not your prettiest dame and not trying to be). The cast also includes the dynamic master of off-the-cuff irreverence, Nick Garrison—who just returned from another run as the lead of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in Chicago—in the Dee Wallace role (Mary, Elliot’s mom).
Here’s the show info again. It plays through Thursday. They don’t take reservations. They always sell out. Be there when the doors open.
