KEXP in the Hood

Live broadcasts from Capitol Hill start early Friday

By Steve Wiecking April 16, 2009

As a reward for winning their “Hood to Hood” membership drive challenge, KEXP 90.3 FM grants the Capitol Hill neighborhood an entire day of live band broadcasts from Caffe Vita (1005 E Pike St). DJs John Richards, Cheryl Waters and Kevin Cole host a Friday, April 17 lineup that begins at 7:30am with Beads and ends at 5:30pm with the Maldives. In between are bands like Mates of State and Black Kids, both of whom will be at Neumos later in the evening (sure to be a highlight of the weekend)

After the bands leave, the music continues with live DJ sets at various Hill haunts, including the Cha Cha Lounge, Linda’s Tavern, and Havana. There are also band showcases and discounts at various stores in the neighborhood. Click here for a full schedule. But come right back to this site because, you know, a guy’s gotta make a living somehow.
