Filmmaker Lynn Shelton Scores

Humpday makes sweet, sweet love at Sundance

By Steve Wiecking January 20, 2009

If there were ever any doubts that Seattle director Lynn Shelton is on her way up in the film world, they’ve just been demolished. Shelton, whose local My Effortless Brilliance inked a nice deal with the Independent Film Channel, just one-upped herself by reportedly getting offered something in the six-figure range for her latest effort at the Sundance Film Festival this last weekend.

Humpday charmed Magnolia Pictures at the celebrated Utah fest and, Variety reports, will receive a theatrical release in August. The fact that the film is about a couple of heterosexual guys who do the nasty with each other for the sake of art was apparently too difficult to resist.

I haven’t seen the film but, you know, sounds like progress to me.
