Dexter Avenue North Safety Project Open House
Bikes and cars don't mix very well, but in our day and age, there isn't really an option to seperate the two at all times. South Lake Union is feeling the heat of this issue right now because of construction happening on Mercer Street and past accidents, and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) wants to keep everyone safe and informed.
Join SDOT staff during the morning rush hour on John Street, just west of Dexter Ave., and learn about the safety improvements that are being planned, including car and bike lane closures and prohibited turns in the Dexter Avenue area.
Engage in the conversation, offer up your two cents about the project, and grab a cup of free coffee.

Rally to Free Indigenous Leader Nestora Salgado
A U.S. citizen whose home is in Renton has been held in a Mexican prison for the past year. Nestora Salgado was in her hometown of Olinalá, Guerrero, helping the community police force fight drug trafficking, when she was accused of kidnapping, seized without a warrant, and sent to a maximum security prison in Nayarit.
Join the Libertad para Nestora/Freedom for Nestora Committee today and protest her arrest and the lack of action by U.S. officials to free her.

Salmon Chanted Evening
This is the event’s fifth year and all of the proceeds will be going to the Seattle Parks Department. For the price of dinner, guests will be offered an evening of food, drinks, and live music. Tom Douglas is up to his constantly-giving-back antics again and you’re invited to join in on the fun.
Be sure to register online to get in on the action. The menu includes, grilled salmon (duh), toasted hazelnut and wild rice salad, watermelon, mint, and feta salad, and more. Park advocates really should have no problem getting to this event, because c’mon, Tom Douglas is cooking.
