For Friday

Equity Summit

The Puget Sound Regional Council, the group that plans and directs investments in the region's rapid transportation infrastructure, has helped put together a summit where community members—yes, you—can come toss around ideas about connecting transit and development in ways that serve everybody. Come put your thinking cap on about incluslive transit planning, immigration, and living wages.

The two-day summit kicks off this Friday, with a welcome speech from King County Executive Dow Constantine.

Puget Sound Equity Summit, Fri, November 8, 5–8:30pm to Sat, November 9, 8am–3:30pm, Highline Community College (Student Union Building B), 2400 S 240th St, Des Moines, WA, free.

For Thursday

Vermicomposting

Don't let the worms deter you from vermicomposting—that is, composting with "worm bins"—a tried and true composting practice for homes of any size. This workshop, led by enviro expert Crescent Calimpong, will introduce technique and help you discover the value worms can bring to your compost bin.

Vermicomposting 101, Thu, November 7, 7–8pm, UW Botanic Gardens, Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st St, Seattle, $10.

For Wednesday

Post-Election Civic Cocktail

One day after the election, mix with fellow civic-minded citizens to discuss the results and what they mean for the city and state.

Several members of Seattle's political scene will attend to give their input on the elections, Washington's health exchange, and the aftermath of the government shutdown: former King County Executive Ron Sims, political consultants for Mayor Mike McGinn (John Wyble) and challenger Ed Murray (Christian Sinderman), and Dr. Benjamin Danielson of Odessa Brown Children's Clinic.

Should be a great event. After the 2009 mayoral election, PubliCola sponsored a similar event with McGinn consultant Bill Broadhead and Joe Mallahan consultant Jason Bennett; it was a blast.

As always, the program will be available afterwards on the Seattle Channel website.

Civic Cocktail, Wed, November 6, 6pm, The Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Ave, Seattle, $12.
