For Friday

Beans and Bingo

Beacon Hill is addressing sustainability by encouraging its residents to grow at least one vegetable for their own consumption this year, putting emphasis on one in particular: the bean.

To conclude their "Beacon, A Hill of Beans!" program promoting the crop, they will hold a free bean dinner with bean bingo for some sustainable family fun.

Beacon, A Hill of Beans! Harvest Dinner, Fri, October 11, 6pm, The Garden House, 2336 15th Ave S, free.

For Thursday

Wage Worries

Does Washington state have a fair minimum wage? Many don't think so, as we saw when groups of disgruntled workers in Seattle rallied to "Strike Poverty" in late August.

See what both sides of the debate have to say when local labor activists, elected officials and economic experts talk it out on live television. Brian Callanan, Seattle Channel host, will lead the debate.

Seattle Speaks: Wage Worries, Thu, October 10, 7–9pm, Newholly Gathering Place, 7054 32nd Ave. S, free (but RSVP required).

For Wednesday

Transit Trivia

Show off your transit smarts at Transit Trivia Night, where winning teams (four per team) compete for transit-themed prizes and nerdy bragging rights.

The event benefits Transportation Choices Coalition, the non-profit that fights for comprehensive transit options statewide.

Transit Trivia Night, Wed, October 9, 5:30–8:30pm, Buckley's Belltown, 2331 2nd Ave, suggested donation $25.
