PubliCalendar: Wages, Transit, and Trade

Protestors watching a live feed of "Strike Poverty" in Missoula, MT during Seattle's protest, Aug. 29
For Thursday
Wage Worries
Does Washington state have a fair minimum wage? Many don't think so, as we saw when groups of disgruntled workers in Seattle rallied to "Strike Poverty" in late August.
See what both sides of the debate have to say when local labor activists, elected officials and economic experts talk it out on live television. Brian Callanan, Seattle Channel host, will lead the debate.
Seattle Speaks: Wage Worries, Thu, October 10, 7–9pm, Newholly Gathering Place, 7054 32nd Ave. S, free (but RSVP required).
For Wednesday
Transit Trivia
Show off your transit smarts at Transit Trivia Night, where winning teams (four per team) compete for transit-themed prizes and nerdy bragging rights.
The event benefits Transportation Choices Coalition, the non-profit that fights for comprehensive transit options statewide.
Transit Trivia Night, Wed, October 9, 5:30–8:30pm, Buckley's Belltown, 2331 2nd Ave, suggested donation $25.
For Tuesday
Standing with Checkers
In response to grocery corporations' alleged plans to cut health care benefits and wages, grocery store workers have started a "Stand With Our Checkers" movement to protest. Join them for their "Chalk It Out" event in Capitol Hill, when they will draw chalk outlines of their feet outside of Safeway and QFC as a sign of solidarity.
Chalk It Out! Stand With Our Checkers, Tues, October 8, noon, meet at Safeway, 1410 John St. E, Seattle.
Free Trade Talks
EU Ambassador Vale de Almeida will be in Seattle to talk about trade relations between the EU and U.S.—particularly, negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which would be the biggest bilateral trade and investment agreement in history.
For all international relations nerds out there, this is the perfect chance to get a breakdown of TTIP from an insider's perspective.
The Big Deal: The U.S., EU, and the building of the world's biggest free trade area, Tues, October 8, 8–9:30am, Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, 1301 5th Ave, Suite 1500, Seattle, $10–$35.
