Cap Hill Mayoral Forum

If you missed Monday's mayoral forum, you have another chance this Thursday to hear from candidates Mike McGinn and Ed Murray about their plans for the Capitol Hill community.

For Wednesday

Civic Cocktail

CityClub brings together community members, leaders, and journalists to talk about some of today's pressing civic issues—i.e., the mayor's race. Join the cocktail event to trade ideas with Seattle Times vet Joni Balter, former Seattle mayor Greg Nickels (cool choice), and Interim Seattle Police Chief Jim Pugel, to name just a few.

Civic Cocktail, Wed, October 2, 6pm, The Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, $12 ($15 at the door).

For Tuesday

Improving Thinking with Technology

Clive Thompson, freelance tech writer for Wired and The New York Times, is coming to Town Hall Seattle this week to tell us why there's no need to worry— the internet and technology is actually improving our minds.

The talk is based on his book, Smarter Than You Think, which explains how modern technology is enhancing our cognitive abilities.

Clive Thompson: Technology is Improving Our Minds, Tues, October 1, 6:30pm, Town Hall Seattle, $5.
