For Sunday

Seafair Cruise

During this year's Seafair Weekend, you can catch the Patriots Jet Team air show (no Blue Angels this year, alas) on a cruise while enjoying a barbecue buffet. The captain will narrate as the cruise makes its way around Lake Washington and Lake Union to local landmarks. Tickets must be bought in advance.

Seafair Air Show and BBQ Lunch, Sun, August 4, 11:30am-3pm, depart from the Waterways HomePort (2441 N. Northlake Way), $40-$89.

For Saturday

Green Lake Walking Tour

New to the area? Green Lake is holding a free guided tour to introduce the nature and wildlife that can be found in and around the lake.

A Walk in the Park: A Newcomer's Intro to Green Lake, Sat, August 3, 1-3pm, Green Lake Park (meet in front of the Bathhouse Theater at 7312 West Green Lake Dr. N), free.

Outdoor Painting

Seattle Art Museum present a live painting and instruction session in Olympic Sculpture Park as a part of its Summer at SAM series. Local muralists Xavier Lopez Jr. and Ryan "Henry" Ward, whose art can be seen around Seattle, will lead the session.

Live Painting, Sat, August 3, 1-3pm, Olympic Sculpture Park (on the grassy lawn near Alexander Calder’s "The Eagle"), free.

Community BBQ

Interbay P-Patch, one of Seattle's largest and oldest P-Patch community gardens, will be holding their yearly fundraiser barbecue this weekend. The meal includes grilled salmon, a selection of side dishes, desserts, and refreshments. The cost is $25 per person, but children under the age of 12 can attend for free. Contact Leslie McKay to make reservations.

Interbay P-Patch Salmon BBQ, Sat, August 3, 5pm, 2501 15th Ave W, $25.

For Friday

Cooking at Pike Place

"From Farmers to Families and Friends" hosts free cooking classes each Friday, taught by local cooking instructor and store owner Diane LaVonne. Open to those with all levels of cooking experience, these classes aim to "demystify" cooking from scratch with fresh local produce.

Classes last 45 minutes and are limited to 25 participants per class. This 10-week series runs through September 20.

From Farmers to Families and Friends Cooking Classes, Fri, August 2, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, Pike Place Market, free.
