For Sunday

A Street Festival

Celebrate the final Sunday of August at Melrose Market's family-friendly street festival, including live music, food, and a beer garden, with proceeds benefiting Teen Feed, an organization that supports homeless youth.

Melrose Market Street Festival, Sun, August 25, 11am-4pm, Melrose Ave, Capitol Hill, free.

For Saturday

Go Play Outside

Enjoy the outdoors this weekend at Magnuson Park’s Big Day of Play. Organized by Seattle Parks and Recreation as a part of their "Healthy Parks, Healthy You" initiative, the event will have a variety of outdoor activities, such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Big Day of Play, Sat, August 24, 10am-3pm, Warren G. Magnuson Park, 7400 Sand Point Way NE, free.

A Day for Bikers

Kick off your afternoon by biking around Seattle beer-tasting at the Bike & Brew Tour, held by Bicycle Benefits, a program that encourages biking for sustainable transportation. The tour will end in Cal Anderson Park for an outdoor bike-in movie—1985 classic Pee-Wee's Big Adventure—co-hosted by Sustainable Seattle and The Vera Project.

Bike & Brew Tour + Seattle Bike-In, Sat, August 24, noon @ Naked City Brewery (Bike & Brew), 9pm @ Cal Anderson Park (Bike-In Movie), free.

Capitol Hill Sustainability Tour

Between biking and biking in at Cal Anderson, take a tour of Capitol Hill and learn how residents at five neighborhood sites have been working to promote sustainability. Stops include an urban garden, "the world's greenest office building," a street revitalization project, and one of the few designated "Eco-Districts" in the nation.

Capitol Hill Sustainability Walks, Sat, August 24, 5pm, 5:30pm, and 6pm,  Sustainable Seattle booth, southeast side of Cal Anderson Park, free.

For Friday

Sustainable Food Systems Potluck

Share your sustainability ideas over an outdoor potluck at Cal Anderson Park this Friday, where participants will discuss topics "compost, urban farms, community kitchens, protecting the bees, fruit tree harvesting, food equity, and general community food resilience." RSVP here.

Cal Anderson Sustainable Food Systems Potluck, Fri, August 23, 4pm, Cal Anderson Park, Capitol Hill, free.
