Description

The first joint to crook a come-hither finger into Belltown, this low-lit standby at First and Blanchard has been great, all right, lousy, so-so—and everything in between—over the course of its long career; sometimes over the course of a single night. Foodwise it’s settled into a groove of serviceable, if hackneyed, seafood preparations—fine crabby crab cakes, grilled prawns on red-pepper risotto—none of which will dazzle nearly as much as the ambience. Suffused in light so caramelly as to be almost chewy, Queen City Grill offers up seductive glimpses—a patch of lacquered brick, a well-worn wooden table, the classiest wine-stacked back bar in town—from booths so intimate they could double as hotel rooms. Great Happy Hour.
