This update of the former fringe favorite Gastropod in Sodo has become a stunner of industrial chic near South Lake Union, all sweeping sightlines and banquette seating and arty spiral pendants, glassily fronting SLU’s less familiar western flank with a window onto its brewery adjunct, Epic Ales. The every-night-with-brunch-on-weekends purview is also bigger—with a menu of global innovations that pays particular attention to Southeast Asia. Some of these innovations are winning—try the weekly okonomiyaki, especially if it’s topped with grilled octopus and jaunty bonito flakes—but some innovate to death, like a clanging nachos production starring delicata squash and garlic chips, or onion-and-olive chocolate chip cookies.
