Two weeks ago, the Sounders' underdog 1-0 win over Columbus pushed them within 92.5% chance of making the playoffs
.
But while the Green Freaks had last week off, a bunch of other games unfurled, pushing us even closer to that goal: The Crew beat the Revolution, Toronto drew with  San Jose, and it was Chivas over Kansas City. A win and we're in.  A tie and ... based on the outcomes of other games,  we could still be in.  Same thing with a loss. If we go, we'll be  the second team in league history to make the playoffs in their inaugural year.

The last time we faced Kansas City, Kasey Keller bolted out of the penalty box to stop a break-away, drawing our first red card and resulting in our first loss, the end of our honeymoon winning streak, and the beginning of a bunch of troubles.

KC's loss to Chivas officially ended any chance they have make the post-season (before that, their chances were 2%).  A team that has nothing to lose can be dangerous and unpredictable.  And the Sounders Pyschological Cheat Sheet says we don't perform well again in games that don't really matter against teams we should beat.

PS: GoSounders.com has a handy breakdown of who else to cheer for:  Chicago over New England (likely), FC Dallas over Colorado (possible), Toronto FC over Real Salt Lake (who knows), Columbus over DC United (probable), San Jose over Chivas USA (unlikely). Sports Club Stats breaks it down further in manners than only fanatical statisticians can appreciate.
