Must Read Emails! Starring State Sen. Pam Roach

By Josh Feit January 29, 2009

A Republican activist, Michael (I've X'd out his last name in the emails below) contacts all the candidates for Director of King County Elections to see where they stand on the "Obama isn't eligible to be the President" issue ???

He gets a warm and lovely response from Republican candidate and odd State Senator Pam Roach (R-31, Enumclaw).

Here's the email thread:

Dear Candidate for Director of Elections
David Irons
Sherril Huff
Julie Kempf
Bill Anderson
Christopher Clifford
Pam Roach

Your personal election is critical to ensure justice for the integrity of King County Elections.
To assess such integrity I request a simple answer to the following question.

Do you and will you faithfully support the Constitution of the United States of American, specifically Article II Section 1 Clause 5, wherein it states,

"No person, except a natural born citizen, or a citize n of the United States

at the time of the adoption of this Constitution,
shall be eligible to the office of President..."

The attached file provides copies of original images of Congress and US Constitution as basis to my question; wherein the term "natural born citizen" has been an issue.

Your timely response is greatly appreciated as elections are held 3 February 2009.

Very truly yours,

Michael

Thanks for your questions. I am the only candidate that is actively advocating that we check our voter list against the INS records. The legislature has not wanted to do that. We should led from the local elections office and make this a priority. I would appreciate your vote.
Best Wishes,
Pam

Hi Pam

One of the other candidates promptly replied with,

"Yes, I cannot imagine anyone being able to say anything else with a straight face."

I appreciated that candidate's direct response to my question.

I and my sphere of families lean towards yourself since you were at the March For Life in Olympia...thus I take it you are pro-life, thus I opinion you have a good sense of integrity.

My question remains, however, in regard to qualifications per the US Constitution as specified. > person who will hold the office of "Director of Elections" is pertinent to my question. Thus, please kindly let me know your reply to that question.

Thank you kindly,

Michael

Sorry, when I read that it was in the context of the election and I thought you were talking about illegal aliens voting.

I am a strict constitutionalist and agree that a person must be a natural born citizen to qualify to be president of the United States. Arnold would NOT make the cut! Pam

Hi Pam

Thank you, your reply is encouraging! Two questions that will help many of us to justify a vote for you.

Question One:

As Director of Elections, how would you assure voters that a candidate running for the Office of President of the United States was properly and authentically vetted to satisfy the "natural born citizen" qualification?

Question Two:

What evidence would you require and what legal statutes would you rely upon to assure voters that a candidate was eligible for such office?

Sincerely,

Michael

#1 Normally, a birth certificate is the proof of place of birth. If there is thought of a fake certificate it should be investigated.

#2 Same as above and the US Constitution should be strictly interpreted. The wording is quite precise.
