It's Not Fair to Blame One Player, but ...
Lots of disappointing things about our 2-1 loss to New England yesterday. However, I've already ranted about MLS reffing, so I'll keep mum on that bullshit handball PK call and just add it to the tally of unprofessional officiating.
I also like Riley too much to hold his feet to the fire about Sharlie Joseph, keeping him onsides for his game winning goal.
My bone this week is the fact that we were playing with 10 men. I don't like to single people out, but I think it's warranted today. Nothing personal Brad Evans, but where were you Saturday night?
I never once saw you touch the ball, make a play, or hear your name called out by the announcers.
And I was watching you intently. I started focusing on you intensely (I was drunk) at about minute 35 or so, when I realized you were the weak link on the team. Nothing.
I'm sure you're a nice guy; you kinda look like Luke Skywalker. But I could never figure out why you were called up by the nats, and I don't know why you started tonight.
It's not fair to blame one single player on any loss. But Jaqua, after spending the last few matches on the bench, came out fighting for his starting position. He made some gaffes, but hustled more so. Levesque's second-half substitution had little impact, but he hustled. Zakauni hustled. Montero hustled. Everyone hustled. Except Evans.
Sigi, what are you thinking?
We've dropped from 3rd in the West to fifth, from 5th in the playoffs to 7th. Next week we play in Columbus, where a tie will be miraculous. Maybe those 7 points will be more difficult than thought.
