Mayor Greg Nickels, wearing his new hat as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, is meeting with President Obama today at the White House to discuss urban policy.
Snitty comment: Given Nickels lousy polling numbers and his good relationship with the W.H. (think Kerlikowske), I also wonder if he's dropping off a resume.

Mayor to meet with President Obama, Cabinet members on urban policy
SEATTLE - Mayor Greg Nickels will meet with President Obama today to
discuss national policy for the nation’s urban areas. Cabinet members
and White House advisors will also attend.
The roundtable discussion is hosted by the White House Office of Urban
Affairs and the Domestic Policy Council. Nickels was invited to share
his experiences as mayor of Seattle and president of the U.S. Conference
of Mayors (USCM). Last month, in his inaugural address for the USCM,
Nickels called for a “New Deal for America’s Cities” that would
create a closer partnership between the federal government and
metropolitan areas. The nation’s top 100 metro areas generate 75
percent of gross domestic product, and Nickels has advocated for a new
investments that would create jobs and make America more globally
competitive.
Prior to the meeting, Nickels will hold a press availability at 10:30
a.m. PST today at the White House media tent.
