City Council Member Richard McIver Not Running. Jordan Royer Is.
Jordan Royer, son of former Seattle Mayor Charley Royer, announced today that he's running for Seattle City Council positon 8, the position currently held by the council's only black Council Member, Richard McIver.
McIver confirmed for PubliCola today that he is not running for reelection.
He said he wishes Royer luck, but added, "I want to see some color on the council." Although, it doesn't have to be his seat, he said.
I don't know much about Royer except that when he worked for Mayor Greg Nickels, he was handed the turd of convening the mayor's nightlife task force, Nickels' political ruse to invest nightclub owners in their own demise.
UPDATE: City Council hopeful James Donaldson, a black candidate for Seattle City Council, intends to announce which council position he's running for very soon, possibly within a week.
