Favorite Things: Promesse in Kirkland

Hello. Welcome to Favorite Things, a new recurring feature here on Where What When. Each Monday we’ll check in with a different shop owner to see what he or she is currently in love with.
To get things started, a smart sand-colored dress with pleating details that Francine Park at Promesse just adores.
I know, I know, the dress pictured here is black, but Francine ordered in sand and I say smart move.
Danish drape-n-tuck visionary Charlotte Eskildsen and her Designers Remix Collection are responsible for the frock. Do click on those orange words to cruise the DRC site – fans of A.P.C. and the Scandinavian scene in general will be happy they did. (Or not, depending on how obsessed you get with the availability of denim jumpers, structured shoulders-with-short pants, and overstated batwing sleeves in art nouveau prints.)
But back to the dress. Francine says she fell for its its edgy-yet-timeless appeal and suggests it can be worn to the office with flats or sandals (hmm, perhaps those Derek Lam shufflers from this post), or to a summer wedding with just the right statement shoes.
What statement should shoes be making to match the tone and message of the cotton and polyester DRC dress? Francine suggests a brown print pump but I have to say, I immediately went coral patent leather—a simple silhouette in a hot summer-into-fall shade. And then I pictured a high-heeled strappy sandal in super soft aubergine suede. But hey, I’m perfectly willing to leave all that up to you.
Looking for a good time to swing by Central Way and check out the rest of Francine’s favorite things? I’d suggest this Thursday, June 11 from 5-8p, when local jeweler Rachel Burklund will be there with a trunkload of her artful, colorful designs. (We just used some of Rachel’s stuff for a page in the next issue of Seattle Met Bride & Groom and we were all more than a little in love with it.) Francine will be serving wine and cheese, and jewelry will be between 15 and 20% off.
