Their Favorite Things: Oslo’s on Queen Anne

When you’re ready for some weather.

September 14, 2009

It’s cool if you want to pretend, for a week or so longer, that summer lasts forever, but when you’re ready to prepare for real Seattle weather, keep Oslo’s in mind. The small but always full-to-bursting men’s shop is the only store in Seattle carrying a brand new line called Aether (say "ether") that takes outdoor performance materials and gives them a streamlined, low-key, and tech-smart look.

They love Aether’s Pinnacle jacket and the Space Hoodie at Oslo’s, and it’s easy to see why. Designed by a couple of Los Angeles-based film producers — they did United States of Leland, Religulous, Requiem for a Dream and other stuff that taught them how lame it is to stand around in driving wind and dumping rain — and made in America and Canada, the outerwear feels like practical Seattle — insulated but breathable, light and packable, resistant to the elements — but looks markedly more polished.
