Born in the USA

On this first day of the year two-thousand and nine I hereby pledge that should I acquire any new-to-me wardrobe and/or accessory pieces in the coming twelve months, these pieces will be either
-made in America
-recycled; rescued, revamped, renewed pieces from thrift stores, estate sale and local consignment, vintage, and otherwise used boutiques
(the image here is one of those Ralph Lauren blanket coats, because if I could score an iconic American-made vintage piece by an iconic American designer, I’d get, like, triple bonus points for reusing and reducing and recycling and keeping my fashion miles down — not that I’m at all sure that RL was having those things made here in their first iteration… I very much doubt the comeback models are/were made here … still, a girl can dream.)
I pledge to post my transgressions and my home-made acquisitions so we can keep track together. As the category name of this post (Town and Country) suggests, sourcing locally and from this country is an important issue, and one we’ll visit often here at Wear What When.
